In Mast and In-boom Mainsail Reefing-Furling Systems
We have experience with many popular brands of in mast and in-boom furling; Hood, Furlex, Isomat, LeisureFurl, Z-spar, Boom-Furl, Profurl and others.
We service and sell most brands, whether manual, electric, or hydraulic, these systems require periodic maintenance and service which we are authorized technicians for. We also have upgraded many older systems using ball bearing blocks and after-market line to make them perform better.

The sail also needs to be considered. Occasionally, removal of vertical battens has helped on in-mast furling systems.

Roller Furling
Furlers have likely been the biggest single advantage to cruisers in the last twenty years and also autopilots.

We primarily sell Harken and Furlex units but we service all types. We work with each customer to determine if a unit is worth repairing or not. We often send in Pro Furls for new bearings. We have yet to have a service call on a Schaefer. Some Hood units end up going away.

We have even worked with owners that have designed their own furling systems. We deal with furlers on a daily basis and work hard to fix and improve furler performance at an economical price. Many issues are related to the furler not being installed correctly in the first place or a new sail not fitting properly.

Masts and Booms
We are often involved in insurance claims when a mast is broken. They have hit overhead power lines, bridges, or been damaged in transit. We represent three spar manufacturers and will work with the owner to provide at least as good, usually better than what he had.

We also commonly replace damaged spreaders, either just plain worn out or corroded beyond cost sensible repair. Reefing is the most common issue surrounding booms. Booms can also be damaged by vang pressure, hitting shrouds or gooseneck loads. We work diligently to solve these issues.

Lifelines
Lifelines are Northwest Rigging's bread and butter. Covered or uncovered are the same price. Some owners prefer the classic look of white covered, we've also done black, or the modern-looking bare wire. We use top quality type 316 wire and fittings and make sure they fit just right. We can add gates on the bow for getting the dinghy aboard or build a new stern pulpit with seats and a radar arch. Lifelines are a high priority safety item and very easily addressed. We usually come to your boat, but are happy to sell them to your specifications in the mail.

Stern Davits
We sell and install both custom davits as well as Forespar's line of strong and light davit systems for dingy storage off the stern of your yacht.

Cutter / Solent Stay
The addition of a solent stay to a standard sloop rig is on many cruisers check list before they sail offshore. Our professionals have installed many complete systems and we can sort out the necessary details from deck hounds and running back stays to simply making an existing cutter stay removable with the use of a highfield lever at the deck.
